Steilacoom Park ‘(Portrait) Shoot-out’

SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

What an incredibly fun day at Steilacoom Park!  We took a group of aspiring portrait photographers to Steilacoom for a monthly portrait ‘shoot-out’.  We had about 20 or so photographers and about as many people showing up wanting to be our ‘models’.  We had high school students, some seniors, engaged couples, married couple, good friends, mother with daughter and several others that I didn’t have the opportunity to photograph.

Above are some photos that either Sonny or I took during our evening at Fort Steilacoom Park.  Each month the group of photographers that I organize meets for a free ‘shoot-out’.   Those who come to be our ‘models’ receive  free digital images from the participating photographers.  Our next monthly shoot-out is on Saturday September 15th in Tacoma.  If you are interested in being a ‘model’ (real people wanted) contact us for details on how you can participate.

We’ve been Featured on Bridal Guide!

Just yesterday we received an e-mail asking if bridalguide.com could use a photo of ours for their photo of the day.  Like they had to ask!  Of course we’d let them use our image.  We were honored of ALL the photographers online and ALL the images found online, they found a photo of ours they wanted to publish.

What they wanted was a photo from a wedding that took place at the Fox Island Community Center a couple years ago.  The getaway car was filled with helium balloons.  While the couple couldn’t make a fast escape, they certainly made a dramatic exit!

Honestly, I’ve been waiting for another getaway car to be filled with balloons.  We have a few photo ideas. =)

Tackett Family ~ Family Portrait

SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

With our recent Living Social special, I find myself behind in blogging.  The Tackett family came to us for a Mother’s Day surprise.  ‘Mom’ was moved to tears at the thoughtfulness of the gift from the men in her life.  Portrait sessions always make a great gift!  Everyone I’ve ever met who received a portrait session as a gift was thrilled and delighted to be the recipient of a gift that keeps giving.

Wilson Boys

The Wilson boys were visiting Washington with their family for the first time from Iowa.  It was their first time to see the ocean at Ocean Shores, the first time to see a volcano and so many other firsts.  It was enjoyable walking around the park getting their summer portraits while hearing about their adventures throughout the state.
It would’ve been fun to meet them at the ocean and get some photos of them running and playing on the beach, we are always open to going to the beach in fact I’m over due for a beach visit!  We hope they had fun in Seattle, which is where they were heading with family after their portrait session at Priest Point Park in Olympia.

Blake ~ 9 months old

SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

Blake has been growing by leaps and bounds, it’s always a delight to see the changes no matter how little.  This visit, I was told the sad news that Blake and his family have new military orders and will be leaving WA.  I’ve known Robert & Alex since their engagement, then we photographed their wedding, when Alex was pregnant, their new home and of course followed Blake for his first year.  I feel like I’m losing some extended family members!  We wish them the very best and I’m hoping we get to see Blake one last time for his 1st birthday since Alex has family in the area here.
