V family at Wright Park

The V family scheduled a session with us last year and then had to cancel due to weather, then illness and the session never happened.  So this year, they decided to try again so they could have a family portrait with some fall colors and photos to send out at Christmas.  We had beautiful weather and everyone was healthy so this year we were able to get their family portraits done before the rain hit!  There’s still time to get your family portraits for Christmas cards, if it’s raining we can go to our downtown Tacoma Studio.

Debbie & Mat ~ Bridal Portrait Challenge

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything about the “Aspiring portrait & wedding photographers” group that we organize and try to help up and coming photographers who are attempting to start their own businesses.  This summer we had a “bridal portrait challenge’ where the photographers had to deal with backlighting, no flash usage, splotchy lighting and various other challenges.  With each challenge we only had one to two minutes to get to our location away from the others get the photograph and return to the group!  The photos above are some of the photos that Sonny & I took (separately, not working together) during the challenges.  We all did the challenge because sometimes you just can’t have perfect conditions and it’s best to know how to handle them before the all important wedding day!

Ashley & Donnie ~ We Will

Ashley & Donnie will be getting married in Southern California where they both met and fell in love.  Donnie is serving in the US Army here at JBLM.  We wish them much happiness as they start their lives together.

Stephanie & Tony

What Stephanie wanted for her birthday was for Tony to wear his uniform for the day.  While that wasn’t the most practical he decided that a photograph would last longer.  So they came in before their date night out to get some portraits done.  We hope Stephanie enjoyed her birthday gift and day!

Krystal & Jon ~ Alexander Country Inn

It was time once again to head to Ashford, WA to the Alexander Country Inn which is very near the entrance to MT Rainier National Park.  The weddings we’ve photographed at the Inn tend to be small, intimate and of course carefully tended to by Bernadette and their staff.  We were hired to come photograph the ceremony and then we headed out to enjoy the rest of the day at one of my favorite national parks.
