CAV Ball @ Hotel Murano

We had the blessed opportunity to photography the CAV Military Ball at Hotel Murano recently.  Below are a few photographs from the photo station we had set up.  We knew several people at the ball: Our assistant (1st photo), a writer who wrote about our participation in Op: Love Reunited, several past customers through the Op Love sessions, and a former bride/groom. =)  It was almost like a homecoming for us.  We enjoyed seeing everyone once again.
                                          
                                         
                                        
                                      
                                     
                                  

Daddy's Girls

Their dad was preparing for his deployment, we met the entire family at Point Defiance Park for their Op: Love session.  The girls were absolutely adorable. =)   
Family Affair Photographers are participating photographers with Operation: Love Reunited offering free portrait sessions for our soldiers who are deploying, deployed or for their homecoming.

I wonder what she meant by this sign?! =) You gotta love the homecomings, when children get their daddy's back, wives their love and parents their child. They are truly hero's coming home. Those boots are back on American soil.

Missing Our Soldier

Their soldier, their dad and husband had NO idea he was going to be receiving portraits from his family while he was deployed.  From what I heard the photos helped him considerably until it was time to come home. =)

As the families eagerly wait for that first glance of their loved ones, the curtains lift providing that first view.  Now it's only minutes before they can hold them again. =)  I LOVE photographing the homecomings!

Op: Love Photography ~ Sean & Melissa

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Sean's homecoming.  We first met when he was preparing for his deployment, you can see the photos here:  Sean & Melissa  The first photo here is my favorite from the first time I met Sean, Melissa and their delightful daughter. =)

I loved how she was holding on to Sean's ears to pull him in for her kiss.  =)

Hey photographer dude, have you never photographed a homecoming before?  Move ... FAST!  That's a crush you don't want to be in the middle of. (Yes, I learned that lesson!)

Welcome back home Sean!  Thank you Melissa for allowing me to be a part of this homecoming ... even if I cried like a little girl and had to rely on my auto focus. =)  BTW, Sean STILL reminds me of my oldest son and maybe that is why I really had a harder time controlling the tears.

Misty & Joe ~ Operation: Love Reunited

This past week we had the opportunity to meet with Joe and Misty for an Operation: Love Reunited photo session.  Unfortunately the weather didn't want to cooperate.  Despite the rain, we got out and got a little wet! =)

It's time to do some catching up with some past portrait sessions that didn't make it to the blog for one reason or another (most likely due to our recent move). 
 
We met Gena at Lake Wapato Park for her Operation: Love Reunited photo session.  Her husband is currently deployed and she wanted him to have some photos of their adorable son. =)  We hope he enjoys the photos from home!

The three 'children' (I use that term loosely here) hired me to photograph them and their parents before mom was due to deploy to Iraq.  I loved how the sun and the shadows naturally created this heart shape on the tree trunk.

02.23.10 [Tacoma Family Photographer]

I had met with Jason & Brandy once before for an Operation Love Reunited photo shoot when Jason was deploying. I was thrilled when they called me to take some family portraits during his R&R.
Jason reminds me so much of my youngest son, Ryan. Now if only my youngest could find a woman like Brandy, I'd be one happy mom.

The entire family had tee shirts that represented them and I had to laugh when I saw Brandy's shirt "Here I come to save the day!", being a mom to two active boys I'm sure she's had to run in many times to save the day for them. =) Jason wore a GI Joe tee shirt. How fitting for both.
We will be looking forward to photographing Jason's homecoming through the Op: Love program late summer/fall.
