Recently a photography group we belong to pulled together two young couples so we (5 photographers) could ‘play’ in different Tacoma settings and have a little freedom in posing, lighting, etc.

Thank-you Ben & Kimberly for being so willing to play in front of the camera and for putting up with “wait, ONE more photo ….”  You two were great sports. =)
In a few days we will feature the other other couple, Cindy & JR.

Michael, Rachael and Natalie received a portrait gift certificate for Christmas and this summer we met at Point Defiance Park for their portrait session and afterwards they went to the zoo to visit the animals and of course to check out the newborn clouded leopards.

Now is the time to start thinking about booking your family portrait session to use in Christmas cards, it’s not as early as you think!  To book your session, call us at 253-970-5689 or e-mail us at info@familyaffairphotography.com

Photo ‘Booth’ Station ~ Smile Sensation Station!

Are you looking for a unique idea for your wedding reception? Have you considered a photo booth? Instead, consider a photo station! You’ll be glad you did.

Family Affair Photography

Our photo station, known as the Smile Sensation Station is the better alternative to photo booths … here’s why:

  • Photo booths limit the number of people in a shot,
  • Large groups easily fit into our photo station – strike a pose with your friends!
  • Many times people aren’t interested in getting their photo taken, but most people can’t resist bringing out the inner child and playing dress up or action hero!
  • A devoted photographer who will ‘help’ instigate and encourage guests to let their hair down.
  • Entertaining! Gives your guests something to do before and between events. (not to mention the priceless photos you receive)
  • No limit on photos taken
  • Online ordering is available for guests or for an additional fee provides guests with an on-site souvenir print.
  • We provide an extensive selection of props – guitars, hats, boas, glasses, and MORE.
  • Add more fun with personalized messages for the bride & groom.

Things photo station customers have done with their photos:

  • Set up the station at or near the entrance, and have photos taken with the guest as they arrive to the reception. We had one bridal couple do this as part of the receiving line, the bride later used the photos in her wedding scrapbook.
  • If you are having all your wedding portraits/formals done after your wedding ceremony a photo station is a great way for guests to remain entertained while the bridal party is having their portraits completed with their photographer. ** If you book Family Affair Photography for your event and our station, we provide dedicated photographers who man the station while we remain with you at the event.
  • Another couple had guests go to the station, sign a scrapbook page (instead of a sign-in book) and then had the photo attached to the page. Guests were able to give a personalized message in the photo and on the scrapbook page.
  • Lastly, put inexpensive 4x6 frames on the tables as wedding favors, with a message to go to the photo station and have a photo taken. We can provide guests with a photograph so they can take their photo in the frame. There is an additional cost to have the printer and photos made on site.

Please feel free to share your ideas of what to do with the photographs from our Smile Sensation Station in the comments below!

To book this fun, FUN, FUN activity at your upcoming wedding, company party, EVENT give us a call at 253-970-5689 or e-mail us at info@familyaffairphotography.com.

Chapel of Grace, Olympia ~ Tina & Gene’s wedding photos

Olympia Wedding Photographer 01

If I were asked to describe Tina & Gene’s wedding in two words it would be ‘glowing’ & ‘colorful’.  Tina was absolutely beaming …. glowing with joy as was Gene.  And with all the beautiful Hawaiian prints, fragrant flowers and entertaining personalities it was colorful!

We only spent a couple of hours with Tina, Gene and their families for the wedding ceremony at the lovely historical Chapel of Grace in Olympia.  After their ceremony and some family portraits they headed south of Olympia to celebrate the marriage.

As always, we truly enjoyed getting to meet the families of Tina & Gene.  It’s one of those perks of our job, getting meet some wonderful, colorful personalities filled with love and joy.  Thank-you for including us on your day.

Please feel free to leave a comment for us or some well wishes for Tina & Gene.  Much happiness to them!

Tacoma Family Portraits

The family planned a BBQ gathering to celebrate their dad’s birthday when we received a call asking if we could come take a portrait of a large group with over 20 family members.  Oh, and no one knew this was happening except the organizer of the birthday BBQ dinner.  While waiting for everyone to arrive we took some photos of the now grown adult children with their families.
